Graduation of Salesian Training Schools

23 July 2011

Waiting for the ceremony to start
The Salesian Sisters operate three large training schools for young women in Cambodia. The two schools in Phnom Penh offer food management and secretarial courses and the program in Battambang Province offers sewing. All three programs have their graduation together at the Teuk Thla school in Phnom Penh. Here the girls line up waiting for the signal to start the procession into the hall.
Opening blessing dance
Every public room in Cambodia has photographs of the king and his parents, the retired king and queen, and every even starts with both the national anthem and a traditional Khmer blessing dance, here performed by some of the students.
The students singing a song
In addition to representatives from the Ministry of Education there were many family members and friends of the graduates at the ceremony. Different choirs of the students sang several songs as part of their celebration of this point in their lives.
Sr. My Hanh
Sr. My Hanh is one of the Salesian Sisters working with the girls, an always smiling face and a good friend for the girls to talk to.
